Participation in the interdisciplinary project Transformations

Clotheslines participated with the work Humanization in the digital collective publication Transformations: Arts and Fairy Tales. A Contemporary Anthology, curated by Eleanna Papathanassiadi, as well as in the subsequent public exhibition programme curated by miss dialectic.

The work draws inspiration from Greek folk tales in which garments play a central role in the narrative. In such tales, clothing is rarely described in detail; it appears instead in abstract or symbolic form, acting as a bearer of meaning, a marker of identity, and an instrument of transformation.

By collecting and studying variations of the folktale type The Brothers Who Became Birds, Humanization explores two kinds of transformation: first, the transformation of raw, shapeless material into fabric and clothing; and second, the transformation of the one who wears it.

The garment (shirt / dress / gown / costume / set of clothes) was made from 58 fabric remnants — cotton, viscose, tencel, linen, and rayon — using the patchwork technique.
